Feng Shui Journey

Today, when Classical Feng Shui is wide spread in the West, obtaining real Feng Shui knowledge become more available then it used to be 20 years ago, when I started my Feng Shui journey.

However, the most popular sources are still the Feng Shui books and Feng Shui forums and groups, which are also the least costly.

When it comes to books, they presumably offer very different levels of knowledge, which cannot be easily guessed either by the title or the blurb.

Thus, it takes reading a lot of books (and posts), to become able to differentiate reliable information from everything else and to find the most efficient methods for the own practice. I personally favor the work of Stephen Skinner, Eva Wong, Derek Walters and Vincent Koh. You should not skip reading Joey Yap’s books, because he is a prolific author and a great teacher, who works on himself and who brought this science on a whole new level.

At one point of time, your passion can challenge you to decide for costlier ways of learning: attending Feng Shui courses…

However, although the course fees can sometimes count in tens of thousands of dollars, this is also not a guarantee that one will ever master the practice or become an excellent practitioner eventually.

The situation with learning real Feng Shui is not easy also because of different lineages and thus the ways to understand specific information and apply certain principles. Both to the novice and even to the experienced Feng Shui practitioners, it may seem that some ways are contradictory to the others, and they often cannot achieve the results they were hoping for.

In addition, those who can’t read Chinese, may find themselves in less advantageous situations in their Feng Shui Journey, because they won’t be able to read some important original Feng Shui texts.

Sometimes, an eager Feng Shui student just don’t have other choice, but to attend the same courses with the same Feng Shui teacher year after year, hoping to connect the dots and finally became able to stand out in their practice.

So, what is the secret of some outstanding Feng Shui practitioners, who can achieve real results?

I would say that obtaining the genuine knowledge and working hard is essential, although we should not underestimate the influence of personal luck, which also plays important role in every accomplishment.

Experimentation is also important here, because only case studies can show us what works in certain cases – and what doesn’t.

Although not many teachers would say this aloud, Feng Shui practitioners – and everyone who aspire to become one – have to master the Four Pillars Chinese Astrology (also known as Ba Zi), in order to make better assessment of the current situation, and to construct the most efficient tailor-made Feng Shui solutions.

All said should just remind us that one’s Feng Shui journey doesn’t end after reading numerous books or even after completing the series of courses, which can provide a certain title.

Mastering real Feng Shui is long and demanding journey, where only one’s own practice might show what works and what doesn’t…
