Choosing property with Feng Shui (3)

Ideal property

An ideal property requires an ideal site.

When it comes to ideal site, it will always contain the four special landscape features that are usually referred to as “The Four Celestial Creatures”. These creatures are actually elevations that have the descriptive names of the Green Dragon, White Tiger, Black Turtle and Red Bird.

The ideal location for the Black Turtle is at the back of a property, for its purpose is to provide protection to the site.

The left hand side of a property is the ideal place for the Green Dragon, while the right hand side is the most appropriate for the White Tiger.

The balance between the Dragon and the Tiger is very important – when one goes into extreme, the other should compensate.

The Red Bird at the front should be open and spacious, with lower undulations and more mountains appearing in the distance.

Encircling a property, the Four Celestial Creatures protect a site from harsh winds, thus enabling the accumulation of Qi.

The quality of the Four Celestial Creatures varies from location to location and it is not always easy to find the ideal combination.

When it comes to urban areas and flat terrain, the Four Celestial Creatures can be created by using landscaping or by placing free-standing features (such as a garage) at certain locations around the property.

The Ming Tang is essential

If there is an opportunity to choose between several buildings, choose one with an outer open, spacious area.

This is important not only for subduing the possible Sha Qi, but it’s essential because outer open area allows Qi to collect before it gently moves into the building.

And the more Qi you have on your disposal, the better life you can have!

The importance of layout

Everything about our property affects us in a very precise and direct manner, from its shape and the position of the main entrance, all the way through to room allocation and furniture placement.

We spend most of our lives in our home and thus it holds the key to our rest, recharge, regeneration, the quality of our personal relationships and communication with family members.

We may not be aware of the importance of the shape of our home, but every shape conducts Qi in a different way, and this can really affect us.

Accordingly, while some shapes allow for the free movement of Qi, there are others that create dead ends, effectively smothering Qi. Moreover, missing spaces and extensions can have an effect on every person in the household. A missing space takes away something, as an extension always introduces a new kind of imbalance into a person’s life.

The main requirement for Qi to flow into a property is that the Qi flow path should remain unobstructed.

This goal can be achieved by allocating rooms appropriately and placing furniture in the best possible positions.

Also, selecting a room that naturally supports a certain type of activity can help with maximizing Qi and improving the luck of the residents within.

Furniture placement matters

Furniture placement should follow as the next priority, as furniture will either conduct or block Qi.

In some instances, it can even create dangerous internal Sha.

When it comes to the importance of specific pieces of furniture, it is the placement of the stove that affects everyone in the house.

Also the position of beds and desks tends to affect the people who sleep, study or work in that position.

Knowing how to use your space is essential, because the floor plan should  enhance the flow of Qi inside the home, leading to improvements in personal health, relationships and lifestyle in general.

A house or an apartment?

The main benefits of living in a house are having more direct contact with the ground, as well as the option of creating a courtyard where Qi will naturally be able to collect.

Designing a house from scratch allows for even more flexibility, including being able to align the property with the most prominent external features, choosing the optimum facing and location for the main entrance and finally, assigning the rooms in the best possible manner.

Alternatively, living in an apartment can constrict Qi flow from the very beginning (obviously this is dependent on the apartment’s placement and design), as it can limit contact with the Earth’s energy, especially when living on higher floors.

Making structural changes to apartments is almost impossible, which means there is very little opportunity to alter the shape of the property, to increase the size of the Ming Tang in front of the entrance, or to even tilt the door in order to achieve the best direction.

Fortunately, there’s knowledge which allows us to make the most out of every apartment. Read my book or come study with me to find more.

Feng Shui book review

“I am always on the lookout for new Feng Shui books to add to my collection. I must say I’m quite happy impressed with this book. It is so comprehensive and it reveals many of the secrets that I learned from taking expensive live Feng Shui classes that I had paid big bucks for in the past few years. This book is written so methodically that would make it easy for a beginner to follow and learn from. To me, this book has far greater value than the more expensive books from other authors that I have bought previously based on its contents and the level of knowledge it imparts to its readers. I almost signed up for an expensive online class offered by a famous classical Feng Shui master and I ‘m glad I didn’t because this book covers exactly the same topics which that online class offered. I saved almost $1950 by buying this book instead. If I am to teach a Feng Shui class in the future, I will definitely use this as my class textbook.”
